An ongoing passion project. I am remaking the look of every team in the league, one at a time. Each rebrand pulls from the team's history, city and culture, then rebuilds it with modern type, color and geometry.
To show the work the way it would actually live, I mocked every concept up as a post on my feed. A logo only earns its keep once it is out in the world.
dannnymcccarthy Had a ton of fun on this personal Celtics rebrand. I pulled from their old-school logos, especially that 1950s mark with so much character. 🍀 #celtics #bostonceltics #bleedgreen #nbabasketball
dannnymcccarthy The current logo is solid, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how to bring the energy of the in-arena leprechaun mascot into a fresh take for today.
dannnymcccarthy So I redrew Lucky himself. Same mischief, sharper line work, built to hold up at any size.
dannnymcccarthy Kept that vintage 1950s character, but rebuilt it on a cleaner, modern frame.
dannnymcccarthy Green and gold pulled straight from the classic era, then mocked up on the kit.
dannnymcccarthy Old-school soul, today’s polish. Bleed green.
dannnymcccarthy Bridging the gap between the borough and the court. 🏀 #BrooklynNets #BrooklynBridge #LogoDesign #SportsIdentity
dannnymcccarthy The whole process was about structural fusion. I wanted to turn the iconic stone towers of the Brooklyn Bridge into a literal backboard.
dannnymcccarthy The rim and the net connect right into the architecture.
dannnymcccarthy The NETS shield holds it all together. Old-city bones, new-city polish.
dannnymcccarthy Kept it clean and bold, the way Brooklyn dresses.
dannnymcccarthy Mocked up on the kit to see it live on the court.
dannnymcccarthy A tribute to the city that builds the game.
dannnymcccarthy For this one I wanted to merge the Cavs’ history with a fresh, modern identity. ⚔️ #CavsRebrand #Cleveland #NBADesign #SportsLogos
dannnymcccarthy Pulled inspiration from their original 1970 musketeer logo and their current crest.
dannnymcccarthy Then stripped everything back and rebuilt it as a completely new mark.
dannnymcccarthy The result is cleaner and more minimal. It still nods to the sword, though.
dannnymcccarthy ...the shield, and the basketball heritage.
dannnymcccarthy Just with a sharper, more contemporary feel.
dannnymcccarthy Mocked up on the kit. Old-school roots, new-school edge.
dannnymcccarthy Modernized the Timberwolves by blending that raw ’90s energy with today’s cleaner look. 🐺 #Timberwolves #LogoRedesign #NBA #SportsDesign
dannnymcccarthy Wanted to respect the original identity while pushing it into a new era.
dannnymcccarthy Look closer. The ears are shaped like timber trees, a subtle Easter egg tying the wolf back to the forest. 🌲
dannnymcccarthy Deep forest greens and blues, mocked up on the kit.
dannnymcccarthy ’90s instinct, modern polish. The pack, evolved.
dannnymcccarthy Blended the retro era with the modern Mavs identity. 🐎 #NBA #Mavs #SportsDesign #BasketballCulture
dannnymcccarthy Kept the edge of today’s look, but brought back that classic energy.
dannnymcccarthy Instead of the traditional horse, I reimagined the logo as a cowboy going up for a layup.
dannnymcccarthy Referenced Kyrie Irving’s form for the layup pose.
dannnymcccarthy Throwback green on a modern frame, mocked up on the kit. MFFL.
dannnymcccarthy Took the Suns concept and brought it to life as a true phoenix. Bold, fierce and rising. 🌅 #PhoenixSuns #NBAArt #LogoDesign #GraphicDesign
dannnymcccarthy Not just a sunburst. An actual phoenix, because the name deserves it.
dannnymcccarthy Wings spread, mid-rise, all fire.
dannnymcccarthy Added a secondary mark inspired by the sun as a basketball to complete the vision.
dannnymcccarthy Purple and orange turned all the way up, mocked up on the kit.
dannnymcccarthy Past and future, rising over The Valley.
dannnymcccarthy Just dropped my redesigned Kings logo. 👑 #SacramentoKings #NBAdesign #sportslogo #logoredesign
dannnymcccarthy Went with a bold lion as the centerpiece, wearing a royal crown that transforms into a basketball dome.
dannnymcccarthy A new palette of gold, charcoal and royal purple, all about power, prestige and a modern edge.
dannnymcccarthy Wanted the mane and crown to feel fierce and regal at the same time.
dannnymcccarthy Kept the same typography from today’s logo, so it still reads Kings.
dannnymcccarthy Something worthy of a new Kings era. Long live the crown.
dannnymcccarthy If the SuperSonics ever return to the NBA, this is the direction I’d take. 💚💛 #SeattleSonics #BringBackTheSonics #NBAConcept #SeattleBasketball
dannnymcccarthy Reimagined the logo by shaping the Space Needle into an ‘S’.
dannnymcccarthy A basketball net replaces the beams that hold the Space Needle top.
dannnymcccarthy Brought back the colorway from the last era. Green and gold, right where they belong.
dannnymcccarthy Mocked up on the kit to see it live again.
dannnymcccarthy Keeping the history alive with an identity that still feels like Seattle basketball.
dannnymcccarthy Los Angeles Mambas. A rebrand built on identity, not geography. 🐍 #lakers #kobebryant #nbadesign #rebrand
dannnymcccarthy The name ‘Lakers’ came from Minneapolis. The legacy was built in Los Angeles.
dannnymcccarthy So I reimagined the team through the Black Mamba mindset: precision, dominance, mentality.
dannnymcccarthy A symbol for the era that defined the franchise. Homage to Kobe Bryant and the standard he set.
dannnymcccarthy Redesigned the Trail Blazers with a local twist: meet the Sasquatch. #RipCity #TrailBlazers #Portland #NBA
dannnymcccarthy I wanted a logo that actually feels like Oregon. Sasquatch is part of the stories up here, from forest sightings to campfire legends.
dannnymcccarthy The aggressive expression and open mouth match how the team plays: loud, fearless, in your face.
dannnymcccarthy Sharp lines and motion around the head to feel like speed and chaos on a fast break. Nothing static or corporate.
dannnymcccarthy Colors grounded in nature: deep browns and dark tones, like the woods around Portland.
dannnymcccarthy Took the 1997–2010 era Warriors logo and rebuilt it with the current colorway. 🌉 #Warriors #GoldenStateWarriors #NBADesign #SportsLogoDesign
dannnymcccarthy The goal was to respect the history while making it feel cleaner and more modern.
dannnymcccarthy Simplified the colors and refined the shapes.
dannnymcccarthy Reworked the pose so the superhero is grabbing a defensive rebound.
dannnymcccarthy Capturing the grit and hustle side of the game.
dannnymcccarthy Reimagined the Orlando Magic with a Houdini twist. ✨ #OrlandoMagic #NBAConcept #SportsDesign #LogoDesign
dannnymcccarthy Inspired by ’90s design and the art of illusion. It connects basketball to that feeling of making the impossible look easy.
dannnymcccarthy Houdini, the ultimate escape artist (1891–1926), turned disbelief into spectacle. A natural fit for the Magic.
dannnymcccarthy Always been obsessed with the Rockets’ 1971–72 logo and that quirky ‘rocket man,’ so I gave it a modern refresh. 🚀 #HoustonRockets #NBA #retrodesign #logodesign
dannnymcccarthy Cleaned up the character, tightened the shapes and shifted the palette from red-and-yellow to red, navy, light blue and white. Fresh, but still true to its roots.
dannnymcccarthy A Charlotte Hornets redesign. Modern and energetic, but still respecting the team’s history. 🐝 #CharlotteHornets #NBA #SportsDesign #LogoDesign
dannnymcccarthy Explored a bold yellow and blue palette for stronger contrast and on-court visibility.
dannnymcccarthy Built a full system: a refreshed hornet mark with supporting bee and basketball icons.
dannnymcccarthy Updated wordmarks and a jersey concept to tie it all together.
dannnymcccarthy Clean geometry and strong silhouettes, flexible across jerseys, social and merch.
dannnymcccarthy A Knicks concept inspired by the team’s original 1946 Knickerbocker character. 🗽 #newyorkknicks #nba #logodesign #sportsbranding
dannnymcccarthy ‘Knickerbocker’ comes from the early Dutch settlers of New York. It became the nickname for New Yorkers.
dannnymcccarthy Wanted to bring that historical character back and push it into a modern sports logo.
dannnymcccarthy Kept the colonial elements, but added motion and energy so it belongs in today’s NBA.
dannnymcccarthy Started as a simple sketch. Hyped to finally see it as a finished logo.
dannnymcccarthy A Vince Carter–inspired Raptors concept. 🦖 #TorontoRaptors #VinceCarter #NBA #LogoDesign
dannnymcccarthy Started with Vince’s iconic dunk pose and rebuilt it as a raptor in mid-air.
dannnymcccarthy Trying to capture that same hang time, power and attitude in a single mark.
dannnymcccarthy Refined the anatomy and simplified the shapes so the silhouette stays strong at any size.
dannnymcccarthy Red, yellow, black and white. High-contrast, channeling that Jurassic Park era energy.
dannnymcccarthy The Bulls logo has been a constant since 1966. That’s exactly what made me want to reimagine it. 🐂 #ChicagoBulls #LogoDesign #NBA #SportsDesign
dannnymcccarthy Kept the classic face every fan knows, but built it out into a full bull in a charging stance.
dannnymcccarthy More alive, more aggressive, ready to explode off the court. A modern evolution of an icon, not a replacement.
dannnymcccarthy Strong silhouette and a bold red that works across jerseys, hardwood and screens.
dannnymcccarthy The Nuggets’ 1976–81 logo had undeniable character. ⛰️ #Nuggets #NBA #BasketballDesign #DesignConcept
dannnymcccarthy It never needed a full reinvention. Just a cleaner, more intentional execution, refining the details while preserving the attitude that made it special.
dannnymcccarthy Brought it to life on a jersey and court to see how it plays today. Old-school energy, modern touch.
dannnymcccarthy Redesigned the Grizzlies as part of my NBA rebrand series. 🐻 #MemphisGrizzlies #NBA #LogoDesign #SportsDesign
dannnymcccarthy Focused on grit, strength and modern execution while staying true to Memphis. Built to work across jerseys, court graphics and digital.
dannnymcccarthy Atlanta heritage, remixed. 🦅 #Atlanta #TrueToAtlanta #AtlantaHawks #DesignAtlanta
dannnymcccarthy Took the Hawks’ 1969–70 running hawk logo and reworked it into a modern identity.
dannnymcccarthy Sharper shapes, bolder colors and an attitude that matches the city.
dannnymcccarthy From concept sketch to full logo and jersey mockup.
dannnymcccarthy Honoring the original while imagining how it could live in today’s NBA.
dannnymcccarthy Felt like the Wizards haven’t had an exciting logo since the franchise started. So I rebranded them. 🧙 #WashingtonWizards #NBA #SportsDesign #LogoDesign
dannnymcccarthy Leaned all the way into the name: a wizard with real presence. Stars, robe and DC colors.
dannnymcccarthy Red, white and blue for the District, in my own style.
